2018 Annual Conference and Academic Symposium of the Chinese Association for the Study of Modern World History

Focusing on the colonial era of Kenya, Dr. Huang conducted a historical investigation of the education model of Kenyan Africans in three colonial periods----missionary education, "adaptive" education of colonists, and independent education for Africans, and explored the rebellion of transplanting western education into African countries. Dr. Huang clarified that Africans have a positive significance in the resistance of colonial education, although the colonial education rebellion failed to overthrow the colonial education system. The resistance of Africans is a rebellion against western cultural hegemony. Western education transplantation and African resistance are important elements in the formation of modern African education.
