Liu Hongwu

Changjiang Scholar (appointed by the Ministry of Education of the P.R.C)Qianjiang Scholar (Chair Professor of Zhejiang Provincial Government), Director of IASZNU, doctoral supervisor, vice-chairman of the Chinese Society of African Historical Studies, member of the Chinese Association of Asian and African Studies, member of the China Association of Middle East Studies, director of the Center for African Studies at Yunnan University. Liu Hongwu was visiting scholar at the University of Lagos in Nigeria and the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, he has accomplished a number of projects funded by the State Social Sciences Foundation. He has published over 100 academic papers and more than 10 books and has won several state-level awards for teaching achievements.

Wang Heng

Party Secretary, Deputy Director and Professor of the Institute of African Studies, Zhejiang Normal University. Her research interests include curriculum and teaching methodology, ideological and political education, and educational administration. Wang Heng has published over 10 papers and undertaken several provincial level projects funded by the Ministry of Education. The prizes she has won include: Zhejiang Normal University Teaching Achievement Award first prize (as a project leader) ,  Zhejiang Provincial Education and Teaching Achievement Award second prize (as a team member)

Gu Jianxin

Deputy director the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial Government and deputy director of IASZNU, professor, PhD, member of the Chinese Society of African Historical Studies, National Distinguished Teacher. Gu Jianxin has visited a number of African countries including South Africa and Morocco, and he is mainly involved in the research of African higher education issues and the administration of Sino-African educational cooperation affairs. Gu Jianxin has accomplished a number of above-provincial-level projects and published over 20 paper and 5 books.

Chen Mingkun


Deputy Director and Professor of the Institute of African Studies, Zhejiang Normal University, supervisor for master students, Doctor of Philosophy in Education. His research interests includevocational education and higher education in Africa. Dr. Chen Mingkun has published many papers in Comparative Education Review, Studies in Foreign Education, and etc. The published  monographs include: Higher Education in Ethiopia and The Sustainable Development of Vocational Education during China’s Economic Transformation Period.
